Gold Medal Match: Vinesh Phogat vs Sarah Hildebrandt
After winning the semi-final against Yusneylis Guzman Lopez, Vinesh Phogat will now face Sarah Hildebrandt of the USA in the Olympics 2024 women’s wrestling 50kg final on Wednesday.
Phogat defeated World No. 1 and defending Olympic champion Yui Susaki of Japan in the Round of 16 and in the last 8, she saw off Oksana Livach of Ukraine.
Sixth-seeded Sarah Hildebrandt will come into the final as the favorite against unseeded Vinesh Phogat. However, given the form of the Indian wrestler in this year’s Olympics, she would be tipped to win the first Olympic gold medal of her career.
