Which Indian Celebrities Congratulated Vinesh Phogat After Olympics Win?

Vinesh Phogat wrote her name in history books as she became the first Indian woman wrestler to enter the final of the Olympics. Phogat beat Yusneylis Guzman Lopez of Cuba in the Women’s 50 kg semi-final by 5-0 on Day 11 of the Olympics and is now guaranteed at least a silver medal in the Paris Olympics.

Rajkumar Rao

Rajkumar Rao was among the first Indian celebrities to congratulate Phogat. He took to Instagram and posted a picture of the wrestler and labeled her as the ‘pride of India’. Rao also sent his best wishes for the final.

His post read, “And we are in the finals. It was such a joy watching you playing live. You are the pride of our nation @vineshphogat. Good luck for the finals. Our prayers are with you.”

Taapsee Pannu

Taapsee Pannu posted a number of stories on her Instagram and was full of praise for the 29-year-old. In the first story, Pannu revealed that she is a lifelong fan of the wrestler. She then followed it by posting stories about Phogat’s journey to the finals.

“This woman is going to be recalled as a benchmark in a lot of ways for decades to come! What a woman! What a crazy year she has had and what courage she has shown. Your fan for life,” Pannu’s first story read.

Randeep Hooda took to X and posted a picture of Phogat. He captioned it by tagging Phogat in the picture followed by emojis of applauds.

Ayushmann Khurrana posted a picture of Phogat in his Instagram story where she was seen crying after her victory. He wrote, “Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat couldn’t stop crying after her win from the unbeatable world No.1 champion.”

Arjun Rampal

Arjun Rampal also congratulated Phogat for his achievement.  “Vinesh Phogat, the first Indian woman to reach an Olympic final. Such a fabulous few bouts she has had. Get the gold girl. Rampal wrote on X.

Abhinav Bindra, who won India’s first-ever individual gold at the Olympics, took to X and wrote about the problems that Phogat faced leading up to the Olympics and congratulated her on reaching the final.

Gold Medal Match: Vinesh Phogat vs Sarah Hildebrandt

After winning the semi-final against Yusneylis Guzman Lopez, Vinesh Phogat will now face Sarah Hildebrandt of the USA in the Olympics 2024 women’s wrestling 50kg final on Wednesday.

Phogat defeated World No. 1 and defending Olympic champion Yui Susaki of Japan in the Round of 16 and in the last 8, she saw off Oksana Livach of Ukraine.

Sixth-seeded Sarah Hildebrandt will come into the final as the favorite against unseeded Vinesh Phogat. However, given the form of the Indian wrestler in this year’s Olympics, she would be tipped to win the first Olympic gold medal of her career.
