India’s Historic Paralympics Campaign, List of All 29 Medal Winners

Indian athletes excelled at the Paris Paralympics, demonstrating extraordinary determination, resilience, and skill on the world stage. With multiple medals across various disciplines, record-breaking achievements, and their ability to inspire millions, India’s para-athletes have become beacons of national pride.
India managed to win 29 medals at the Paralympics which is 10 more than what they managed to win in the Tokyo Paralympics in 2020. India won seven gold, nine silver, and 13 bronze medals, finishing 18th in the overall medals tally. Out of the 29 medals, a whopping 17 came in the track and field events underlying the staggering growth, the nation has seen since Tokyo Games.
Among the Gold winners, Kumar Nitesh defeated Britain’s Daniel Bethell in the badminton Gold medal match and Javelin thrower Sumit Antil, who lost his left leg in an accident, shattered his own Paralympic record to claim a second consecutive javelin gold.
Shooter Avani Lekhara brought home the gold in rifle shooting with Harvinder Singh and Dharambir winning gold medals in archery and club throw respectively. Navdeep Singh won gold in Men’s Javelin F21 and  Praveen Kumar in the high jump.

Celebrities Congratulate Indian Paralympic Athletes

After the heroics in the Paris Paralympics, Indian athletes received a lot of love and appreciation from politicians and celebrities across the country.

Prime Minister Narender Modi took to X and praised the accomplishments of Indian para-athletes, crediting their success to unwavering dedication.

“Paralympics 2024 have been special and historical. India is overjoyed that our incredible para-athletes have brought home 29 medals, which is the best-ever performance since India’s debut at the Games. This achievement is due to the unwavering dedication and indomitable spirit of our athletes. Their sporting performances have given us many moments to remember and inspired several upcoming athletes.”

Kareena Kapoor tagged all the para-athletes in her Instagram Stories and wrote, “Huge congratulations”. Ayushmann Khurana also extended his congratulations on his Instagram story.
Sonu Sood posted the pictures of Avani and Mona on his X and wrote, “Proud of you both”
Jackky Bhagnani shared a photo featuring Avani and Mona on his Instagram Stories. He wrote, “What a phenomenal achievement! Congratulations to @avani.lekhara on winning the gold medal and @shooter_mona on winning the bronze at the @paralympics! Your success is nothing short of extraordinary and incredibly inspiring. We are all so proud of you.”
