Carabao Cup Round 3 Draw: Tottenham Face Tricky Away Test, Man City Play Watford, 3 All-PL Games

The draw for Round 3 of the Carabao Cup 2024 is complete and with the arrival of the Premier League heavyweights, the competition heats up as the teams battle it out to claim the season’s first major silverware.

There will be 3 all-PL games in the 3rd round with defending champions Liverpool playing West Ham at home. Everton will face Southampton at Goodison Park and Brighton will host Wolves at Amex Stadium.

Reigning Premier League champions Manchester City will face Championship side Watford at Etihad Stadium. Cityzens have lifted the Carabao Cup on 6 occasions in the past decade and again enter the competition as the clear favorites.

Tottenham Hotspur will be a team to watch out for this season in the Carabao Cup as they look to put an end to their trophy drought. Last season, they were eliminated in the 2nd round by Fulham, but this season they avoided a 2nd round clash due to the European places finish. Ange Postecoglou’s side will play away to Coventry City in the 3rd round and will back themselves get one step closer to winning that much-coveted silverware that everyone at the club has so craved for so long.

In the other matches, Arsenal will be at home to  Bolton Wanderers and Manchester United will face Barnsley of Football League 1. Newcastle United, who defeated Nottingham Forest on penalties in the 3rd round, will face AFC Wimbledon and Chelsea will have a home assignment against League 2 side Barrow.

Aston Villa will travel to Adams Park to face League 1 side Wycombe Wanderers and Crystal Palace will travel to the Loftus Road to play Queens Park Rangers.

Preston North End will host Fulham at the Deepdale Stadium, Stoke City will play Fleetwood Town and Leicester City will travel to Poundland Bescot Stadium to play Football League 2 side Walsall.
