India will face Australia in the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) at the Adelaide Oval, starting December 6. The visitors hold a 1-0 series advantage following their dominant 295-run victory in Perth.
Similar to the previous edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2020/21, the upcoming clash in Adelaide will be a day-night fixture. India has participated in four day-night Tests, securing victories in three, with their only defeat occurring in the 2020 Adelaide Test. The team’s three pink-ball triumphs have come against Bangladesh, England, and Sri Lanka, though they have yet to secure an away win in a day-night Test.
The last time India played in Adelaide was in 2020 when Jos Hazelwood and Pat Cummins wreaked havoc on the Indian batting lineup and India registered their lowest total in Test cricket (36). Hazelwood picked fifer for just 8 runs, while Cummins claimed 4 wickets for 21 runs. None of the Indian batsmen were able to score in double digits, with Mayank Agarwal’s 9 being the highest contribution. Australia easily surpassed the target of 90 runs and triumphed by 8 wickets. Australia has played 12 pink ball tests so far and suffered only one loss against West Indies in 2024.
