“Brother On His Side” Rohit Sharma’s Mother Shares Emotional Message After T20 World Cup Win

Ending the 17 year long T20 World Cup drought, India won the cup on June 29 at the Kensington Oval. Rohit Sharma led team defeated South Africa by seven runs in the final. This was the last T20I match of captain, Sharma.

Rohit Sharma, the hitman announced his retirement an hour after the match while the Player of the match, Virat Kohli announced his retirement soon after the match. Both the players were praised and numberless posts followed on social media.

Taking to Instagram, Rohit Sharma’s mother also expressed her emotions on the occasion in a heart-melting post.

Emotional Message From Rohit Sharma’s Mother

Purnima Sharma, Rohit’s mother shared an edited picture of Rohit Sharma, with daughter Samaira on his shoulders. The post also featured , the legendary Virat Kohli by his side.

She called Rohit and Virat, ‘GOAT duo in T20 cricket.’ Purnima’s post went viral and one of the fans commented,

“Without any insecurity she posted Virat pic with Rohit….this show’s us real family for them Virat is their family member”

Below the picture there was the heart-melting note, “Daughter on his shoulders, nation on his back, brother on his side.”

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are the synonymous names of Indian cricket team.

Together, they have been integral part of the team and major catalyst in leading India to the World Cup 2024.

After handing over the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy to the country, they retired with flying colors.

Retiring Rohit And Virat’s Words

Talking to media after the match ceremony, Rohit Sharma announced his retirement as,

“This is my last game as well, no better time to say goodbye to this format. I’ve loved every moment of this. I started my career for India playing this format and this is what I wanted, I wanted to win the World Cup.”

While Virat Kohli announced his retirement minutes after the match,

“This is my last T20 game playing for India, my last World Cup I was going to play. I wanted to make the most of it. And this was our aim. We wanted to win an ICC tournament, we wanted to lift the cup.”

Kohli further said,

“This was an open secret, it was not something that I was not going to announce if we’d lost. It’s time for the next generation to take over. There are some amazing players playing in India. I’ve no doubts they’ll keep the flag waving high, and really take this team further from here now,” 

Rohit Sharma has retired from T20I but is still India’s captain of Tests and ODI.
