On day 10 of the US Open 2024, Iga Swiatek was the big name to be eliminated from the competition. Jannik Sinner continued his phenomenal form with a win over Daniil Medvedev and Jack Draper upset Alex de Minaur to reach the semi-final.

Let us take a look at Day 10 results in detail.

Men’s Results

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner continued his sublime form, defeating Daniil Medvedev, 6-2, 1-6, 6-1, 6-4 to qualify for the semi-final. With this win, Sinner has now reached the semi-finals of all four Grand Slams and also becomes the first man born in the 1990s or 2000s to achieve that feat and the first Italian man in the Open Era.

“We played in Australia this year and then London. We knew it was going to be very physical. It was strange the first two sets because whoever made the first break then started to roll.” Sinner said after the match.

Jack Draper beat seed No. 10 Alex de Minaur in straight sets 6-3, 7-5, 6-2 to book his place in the semi-final. De Minaur was struggling with a hip issue during the game and was never able to counter his opponent’s ferocious forehands.

With this win, Britt qualified for his first-ever Grand Slam semi-final and now has a date fixed against high-flying Jannik Sinner in the last 4.

Women’s Results

In the women’s matches, Iga Swiatek suffered a shock exit in the quarter-final against seed No. 6 Jessica Pegula. Pegula came into the match on the back of 6 defeats out of 6 in the Grand Slam semi-finals but finally managed to reach her first Grand Slam semi-final with a  6-2, 6-4 over World No. 1.

“I’ve [lost] so many freaking times, I just kept losing,” Pegula said in the post-match interview.  “I was like I don’t know what else to do, I just need to get there again and win the match.’ Thank god I was able to do it and finally, I can say I am a semi-finalist.”

Pegula now joins fellow Americans Emma Navarro, Taylor Fritz, and Frances Tiafoe in the semi-finals. This marks the first time since 2003 that multiple US players have advanced to the semi-finals in both the women’s and men’s draws at the Flushing Meadows.

In the other semi-final, Karolina Muchova cruised to a straightforward win over Beatriz Haddad Maia by 6-1, 6-4.
