French Open Quarter Finals Recap: Alcaraz Speeds into Semis, Sinner Becomes No.1, Gauff vs Swaitek in Semis

Carlos Alcaraz, Jannick Sinner, Coco Guff and Iga Swiatek all booked their places in the last four on Day 10 of the French Open 2024 as No.1 Novak Djokovic withdrew from the tournament due to injury.

Carlos Alcaraz and Stefanos Tsitsipas was labelled as the match of the tournament so far but the Spaniard needed only three sets to reach the last four stage beating the Greek 6-3, 7-6, 6-4. Jannik Sinner joined Alcaraz in the semi-finals as he defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3, 7-6, 6-4. Sinner is set to rise to the World No.1 spot in the ATP rankings after Djokovic pulled out of the tournament due to a knee issue suffered in Round 4.

In the Men’s doubles fourth-round clash Tomas Machac and Zhizhen Zhang beat Argentinian 8th seed
Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni 6-3, 7-5.

In the Women’s quarter-finals, Coco Gauff defeated Ons Jabeur 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 and World No.1 Iga Swiatek beat Marketa Vondrousova 6-0, 6-2.

In Women’s doubles, Emma Navarro and Diana Shnaider beat Monica Niculescu and Cristina Bucsa 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. Coco Gauff and Katerina Siniakova defeated Ena Shibahara and Xinyu Wang 6-4, 6-4. Italian duo of Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini beat Amina Anshba and Anastasia Detiuc 6-2, 6-0.

French Open Day 11 Preview:

At Court Philippe Chartrier, Alexander Zverev and Alex de Minaur will face each other in the quarter-finals. The winner will play Casper Ruud in the semi-final. Court Philippe Chartrier will also host the Women’s semi-finals of Jasmine Paolini vs Elena Rybakina and Mirra Andreeva vs. Aryna Sabalenka.

Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori will face Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury at Court Simonne-Mathieu in the Men’s doubles quarterfinals and Coco Gauff and Katerina Siniakova will play Miyu Kato and Nadiia Kichenok in the Women’s doubles quarterfinals at the same venue.
