Khabib Nurmagomedov Has a Response to Conor McGregor Court Verdict

Khabib Nurmagomedov has reacted to the verdict in Conor McGregor’s civil case, where the Irishman was found liable for assaulting Nikita Hand. The verdict requires McGregor to pay nearly €250,000 in damages after the jury, deliberating for over six hours, decided against him while acquitting his co-defendant.

The 36-year-old UFC star was accused in the civil case of “brutally r***** battering” Ms. Hand in December 2018, though McGregor testified that their encounter in a penthouse at the Beacon Hotel was consensual.

McGregor’s long-time rival, Khabib Nurmagomedov, who famously defeated him via submission in 2018, reacted to the verdict by sharing an Instagram story featuring a headline that read, “Irish civil jury finds Conor McGregor liable for se**** assault.”

The verdict followed eight days of court proceedings, with the jury delivering their decision on Friday after six hours and ten minutes of deliberation. Accompanied by his family, including his partner Dee Devlin, parents, sister, and brother-in-law, McGregor shook his head as the jury, made up of eight women and four men, delivered their verdict. He has since expressed his plans to challenge the ruling.

Speaking outside the court, Ms. Hand said; “I am overwhelmed by the support I have received from everybody. To all the victims of sexual assault, I hope my story is a reminder that you have a voice and to keep on fighting for justice. I know this has impacted my life, my daughter’s, my family, and my friends tremendously and it is something I will never forget for the rest of my life”

Khabib wasn’t the only UFC fighter to react to the news, as McGregor’s former opponent Dustin Poirier retweeted a fan’s post expressing gratitude for his back-to-back knockouts of the Irishman in 2021.

Dagestan’s Islam Makhachev, the pound-for-pound number one and reigning lightweight champion also wasted no time in criticizing McGregor following the Irishman’s conviction for r***. “It was only a matter of time before this dirty bastard was exposed. Alcoholic, drug addict, and r*****, many other facts will be revealed, believe me!” Makhachev wrote on social media in response to the news of McGregor’s conviction.

‘Typical rat behavior’: Conor McGregor slammed Khabib for tax invasion

Khabib Nurmagomedov was recently linked to a significant tax bill, though it remains unclear whether it has been settled. Russian media reports suggest “The Eagle” owes over $3 million; however, his representatives told TASS.ru that “the information about tax debt is inaccurate” and assured that Khabib is in good standing with the government.

“That’s typical rat behavior,” McGregor said. “Scurrying rat. So, he has bills to pay. Two main events or something he has in the UFC and he owes his bollocks to the Russian government. So, he’s gonna pay his f—kin’ money that he owes instead of siphoning it out through to other countries. I’m ecstatic and delighted that that’s coming on top of him.

The war of words has again highlighted the ongoing tension between the ‘Nurmagomedov clan’ and McGregor’s camp. The duo was involved in the greatest fight in MMA history where Nurmagomedov defeated McGregor at UFC 229 by a rear-naked choke.
