Paul Pogba Motivated by “Anger” After Ban Is Reduced

Paul Pogba is committed to making a powerful return to football, promising to come back “even better” after serving his ban for using a banned substance. The 2018 World Cup winner is expected to restart his career in March 2025 after his original four-year suspension for taking DHEA a testosterone-boosting supplement was reduced to 18 months.

In an interview with ESPN, Pogba expressed his confidence in reaching new heights despite the time away from the game, stating, “For sure. It’s going to be a new Pogba” he said when asked by ESPN if he could reach the heights of his peak despite the enforced break from the sport.

“That’s definitely for sure. And in a positive way, like I said, with more hunger, with more determination. I feel like a kid who just wants to be professional again, who never signed professionally. So this is the anger I have. That’s what drives me. And I will do everything to come back at the level I was before and even better. Why not?” he added.

While Pogba remains under contract with Juventus until 2026, the 91-cap France international has been unsure regarding his future with the club, addressing various questions about potential destinations. There’s a possibility of a mutual termination of his contract with the Serie A side. If that does not materialize, Pogba plans to return to Juventus training in January and aims to make a significant comeback to his international career.

Asked about returning to France, Pogba insisted: “That is what I hope. Of course, it is in my mind for sure, but I have to be ready for that. There are players there who deserve to play and deserve to be national team. I have to win my place also in the national team again. Of course, I am ready to fight.

The former Manchester United midfielder also expressed that his recent experiences have given him a new perspective on his football career, emphasizing a newfound appreciation for the sport after facing the possibility of life beyond it due to his initial ban.

“Obviously I don’t want to lose the level I am at and if I can surpass it, this is what I want. I don’t want my level to change. Still, the same player with a different hunger and more motivated, more and more hungry, and I will for sure appreciate the game more than before because the game has been taken away from me and I realize how important it is for me.” Pogba added.

While the details of his club’s future remain uncertain, what is evident is Pogba’s grit to make a triumphant return and reclaim his place at the top of the game, both with his club and the national team. His commitment to overcoming adversity and rising to new challenges reflects his determination to make a significant impact upon his comeback.
