Euro 2024 group stages have come to an end with almost all the big names safely through to the last 16. 2018 World Cup finalists Croatia will be the only major absentee after they failed to qualify from Group B. Newcomers Georgia have also qualified after shocking Portugal in their final match.
Let us take a look at all the Round of 16 matches of Euro 2024 in detail.
Switzerland vs Italy
Group A runners-up Switzerland will take on Group B runners-up Italy at the Olympiastadion in Berlin. Switzerland finished unbeaten in Group A after 1 win and 2 draws.
The Azzurri on the other hand lost to Spain in their big game of Group B but a win against Albania and a point against Croatia saw them qualify as runners-up.
Germany vs Denmark
The hosts Germany will face Denmark in Dortmund on June 29 in their round of 16 clash. Germans topped Group A finishing on 7 points. Danes finished in second place in Group C after three consecutive draws to their name.
Spain vs Georgia
Euro 2024 is Gergia’s first Euro in their history and they have qualified for the knockout stage of the competition in their very first attempt. They will now face high-flying Spain in the Round of 16 who finished with a 100% record in the group stage after 3 wins out of 3.
The two nations will meet in Cologne on June 30.
England vs. Slovakia
Despite finishing top of Group C, the Three Lions had a lacklustre group stage scoring only 2 goals in three matches. They will now take on Slovakia in the Round of 16 on June 30 in Gelsenkirchen.
Slovakia qualified as one of the four best third-place teams across groups. They were part of a thrilling Group E where all four teams finished on four points.
Portugal vs. Slovenia
Slovenia are another unexpected side who have qualified for the Round of 16 of Euro 2024. They finished on 3 points in Group C and qualified as one of the four best third-place teams across groups.
Portugal on the other hand finished top of Group F with 6 points. Roberto Martínez’s suddenly look beatable after losing to Georgia in their final group match. The two sides will meet in Frankfurt on July 1.
France vs. Belgium
A 2018 World Cup semifinal awaits as France will play neighbors Belgium in Dusseldorf on July 1 for a place in the quarterfinals. France finished second in the group D with 5 points while Belgium finished with 4 points in an entertaining Group E.
Despite qualification, both nations underperformed in the group stage and would love to leave a mark on the tournament with a win in the Round of 16.
Austria vs. Türkiye
Austria vs. Turkiye is one of the most underrated ties in the knockout stage and the pair will lock horns in Leipzig on July 2.
Austria topped their group which consisted of heavyweights France and Netherlands. Türkiye finished second in Group F, level in points with Group winners Portugal. A win over Türkiye will see Austria reach their first-ever European championship quarterfinal.
Romania vs. Netherlands
Romania and the Netherlands will face in Munich on July 2. Netherlands finished Group D in third place with 4 points and qualified as one of the four best third-place teams across groups.
Romania topped Group E with 4 points. They will now look to replicate their best run of Euros, which came in 2000 when they reached the quarterfinals.
