Pakistan is the last team to announce the squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. Shaheen Shah Afridi had took over as Pakistan’s T20I captain but Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi has appointed Babar Azam as ODI and T20I captain of the Pakistan men’s cricket team.

The Pak squad will be led by Babar Azam. In the 15 players, we will have debut entries like Abrar Ahmed, Azam Khan, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Saim Ayub and Usman Khan entering T20 World Cup, while some familiar faces from 2016 and 2021 tournaments Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim will appear again. Other members include, Mohammad Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, Abbas Afridi, Haris Rauf.

Players who missed out

Pacers Zaman Khan and Mohammad Waseem Jr. who have been in and out of the Pakistani squad and often put up good performances have been left out. In addition, middle order batter Agha Salman and opener Abdullah Shafique, who was one of the few positives from their ODI World Cup 2023, have also been left out.

Pakistan has won the 2009 event under Younis Khan and twice reached the finals under Shoaib Malik (2007) and Babar Azam (2022).
