Months After Silencing India in WC Final, Pat Cummins Looks to Repeat History Against KKR in IPL
Sunrisers Hyderabad brushed off Rajasthan Royals in the Qualifier 2 by 36 runs in Indian Premier League at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. The SRH has thus entered into the finals to be held on May 26 where Kolkata Knight Riders will be waiting for them at the same venue.
Pat Cummins is again entering a final on the Indian soil. Captained by Cummins, Australia secured a terrific win against India in the World Cup 2023.
Sanju Samson, RR captain won the toss and handed the bat to SRH. Though Rajasthan Royals with Trent Boult and Avesh Khan grabbed 3 wickets each, SRH still managed to give a challenging target of 175.
Besides Boult (3/45) and Avesh Khan (3/27), Sandeep Sharma also snatched 2 wickets with 25 runs in the first inning. For SRH, Heinrich Klaasen with 50 runs in 34 ball ,Travis Head 34 in 28 and Rahul Tripathi with 37 battles hard.
In return SRH restricted RR to 139 for 7 in 20 overs. Despite an unbeaten knock of 56 runs off 35 balls by Dhruv Jurel, Shahbaz Ahmed with three wickets and Abhishek Sharma with two thwarted RR’s chase and knocked them out of the league.
Kolkata Knight Riders have already ensured their seat in the finals. Sunrisers Hyderabad will face KKR again after having tasted defeated by the same team earlier this week.
Cummins or Iyer
SRH has reached twice in finals in the 12 seasons in the IPL, winning their first title in season 2016 where they defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore. On the other hand, KKR has been the champions twice, first in 2012, by defeating Chennai Super Kings then in 2014, defeating Kings XI Punjab.
Will it be Cummins add another trophy to his name after the ODI World Cup triumph or Shreyas Iyer will lead KKR into a new era of success?
