Australia confirmed their spot for The World Test Championship (WTC) final after beating India in the fifth and final test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT). Australia won the BGT after 10 years, Pat Cummins and Co. made an outstanding comeback after losing the first test at Perth.
South Africa won the first test against Pakistan on 29 December (Sunday) and secured their spot in the WTC final for the first time. Australia will defend their title against South Africa in June 2025.
Australia will play a two-match test series starting on 29 January against Sri Lanka, who are no longer in the race for the WTC final, baggy greens secured their spot on the third day of the New Year Test at Sydney after chasing a total of 162 runs. Travis Head and debutant Beau Webster put on an unbeaten partnership of 58 runs which guided Australia towards victory.
