Which Teams Have Qualified For The Super 8 In The 2024 T20 World Cup So Far?

In the T20 World Cup 2024, six teams have entered the next stage of the tournament. ICC has already provided the seedings of the Super 8 matches.

The Super Eight stage commences in Antigua on June 19. No matter where the teams end up in the group-stage matches, ICC seedings for the Super 8 goes like this:

Group 1: A1 (India), B2 (Australia), C1 (New Zealand), D2 (Sri Lanka)

Group 2: A2 (Pakistan), B1 (England), C2 (West Indies), D1 ( South Africa)

Since, Pakistan got eliminated, now USA will play as A2. As New Zealand also got knocked out, Afghanistan will play as C1. And for D2, Bangladesh presents itself as a strong contender against Sri Lanka.

Super 8 has only two vacant spots as the Group stage matches come to an end. Bangladesh, England, Scotland and the Netherlands are in contention for the two remaining spots in Super Eight.

Six teams who have fixed their berth in Super 8 are:

India

India belonged to Group A, with Pakistan, Canada, Ireland and USA.

First they took on Ireland in a dominating fashion with 8 wickets and 46 balls win. Next they beat Pakistan by 6 runs. In the final group stage match defeated USA by 7 wickets, and went through to the Super 8.

Australia

Though, tomorrow Australia will be playing the last group stage match against Scotland, team fixed its spot in Super 8.

First taking on Oman won the match by 39 runs. Next they beat England winning by 36 runs. And with a victory against Namibia by 9 wickets, entered into the Super 8.

South Africa

From Group D, South Africa clashed with Sri Lanka winning by 6 wickets. Next they took Netherlands by 4 wickets.

In the third group stage match won against Bangladesh by 4 runs. In the final match against Nepal, snatched the victory by one run becoming the first from Group D to enter Super 8.

West Indies

The host country, West Indies entered the Super Eights comfortably defeating the three other countries in the group.

First Papua New Guinea lost to West Indies by 13 runs. Next Uganda faced a humiliating defeat by West Indies by 134 runs. By 13 runs they won against New Zealand in the third match and went through to Super 8.

On June 18, they will be locking horns with Afghanistan, in the last group stage match.

Afghanistan

Afghanistan is presenting itself as a strong competition as it enters Super 8 for the first time.

Clearing out Uganda by 125 runs, Afghanistan next swept out New Zealand by 84 runs. With Papua New Guinea taking out by 7 wickets, Afghanistan proudly entered the Super 8.

USA

Co-host, USA with an amazing team having South Asian heritage entered the Super 8.

After being beaten up by India by 7 wickets, in the next match they saved the spot. In a final group stage match against Ireland, with match abandoned, garnered the much needed point to enter Super 8.
