ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, co-hosts West Indies and USA after reaching Super Eights via different paths will be clashing at Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 22.
West Indies in their first Super 8 match faced a miserable defeat by England. In a dominating fashion, home favorites were defeated by eight-wickets. On the other side we have USA, which entered the Super 8 by defeating a team like Pakistan. In the first match of Super 8, USA lost to South Africa by 18 runs but it wasn’t a comfortable win for Porteas. USA have presented themselves as a strong competitor in the on going tournament.
In the group stage fixtures, West Indies has won all the four matches against Papua New Guinea, Uganda, New Zealand and Afghanistan. In the first match, West Indies won by 5 wickets against PNG. In a match against Uganda, West Indies defeated the team by massive 134 runs. The third group stage of West Indies clashed them with New Zealand. Third fixture they won by 13 runs. In the last group stage match, West Indies defeated Afghanistan by 104 runs.
United States, during the group stage matches won the first two matches against Canada and Pakistan. Canada, it defeated by 7 wickets. In a match against Pakistan, USA won in the Super over by 5runs. Third group stage fixture, they lost to India by 7 wickets. And the final group stage match against Ireland was abandoned due to rain without a bowl bowled.
Therefore, West Indies , even though the only country which has won the T20 World Cup twice cannot overlook the proven efforts of USA. The two teams will lock horns on Saturday, after being defeated in the first match of Super 8.

Although Bridgetown hosted a low-scoring tie between Namibia and Oman at the start of the tournament, the Barbados has garnered relatively high scores in comparison to the rest of the tournament. There is a prediction of humid evening, with low chances of rain.
