India will kick start their ICC T20 World Cup Super 8 journey against Afghanistan on Thursday. India topped Group A without dropping a single point in four games beating the USA, Ireland, and arch-rivals Pakistan. Their game against Canada was washed out without a ball being bowled.

Afghanistan on the other hand finished a respectable second in Group C. They defeated heavyweights New Zealand along with Papua New Guinea and Uganda. Their sole defeat came against hosts West Indies.

The pair have met each other eight times in the T20 internationals with India winning seven and one resulting in a no result. The last meeting between the two teams was nothing short of a spectacle with India emerging victorious in the second Super Over.

India will go into the game as an overwhelming favorite given their recent form. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will again spearhead India’s batting lineup with Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh tipped to do the job with bowl in their hand.

For Afghanistan, Rashid Khan will once again be the main man as they look to pull off one of the major upsets of the tournament so far.
