UFC Legend Conor McGregor Praises Virat Kohli After India’s T20 World Cup Win

India welcomed the long awaited T20 World Cup trophy on June 29. In the final faceoff of the tournament, India locked horns against South Africa. They became victorious by 7 runs.

Virat Kohli wasn’t able to give his best in the previous matches before the final of T20 World Cup. But he bounced back in the finals and posted a significant 76 to a total of 176. His pivotal contribution led team India to championship.

Claiming the triumph by 7 runs, Kohli’s only ambition was fulfilled. While announcing his retirement after the match, he said,

 “This was my last T20 World Cup, this is exactly what we wanted to achieve…Time for the next generation to take the T20 game forward”

Later he shared a post on Instagram regarding his farewell to T20I cricket. And was dazzled by the responses of legend Conor McGregor and Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr.

Conor McGregor ‘s Response on Virat’s Retirement

Sharing the team India’s photo with trophy, Virat Kohli captioned,

“Couldn’t have dreamt of a better day than this. God is great and I bow my head in gratitude. We finally did it jai hind”.


UFC Champion and MMA star Conor McGregor commented, “Legendary” on the Kohli’s post.

Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr, Sachin Tendulkar, and PM Modi Also Praised Virat Kohli

Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr, commented with fire emojis on the Instagram post of Kohli.

Virat Kohli also received a heartfelt note from Sachin Tendulkar on X,

“@imVkohli, you have been a true champion of this sport. You may have had a rough time earlier in the tournament, but last night you proved why you’re truly one of the greats of the gentleman’s game. Competing in six World Cups and clinching victory in the last one is an experience I know well. I hope to see you continue winning matches for India in the longer formats of the game.”

Also the legendary batsman, received applaud from the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. PM Modi posted a note on X,

Dear @imVkohli, Glad to have spoken to you. Like the innings in the Finals, you have anchored Indian batting splendidly. You’ve shone in all forms of the game. T20 Cricket will miss you but I am confident you’ll continue to motivate the new generation of players.”

Virat Kohli retired from the T20I, but will continue to play in Test and ODI format.
