Kashmir to Host International Cricket Stars After 40 Years With Legends League, Check Details

After a gap of nearly half a century, Kashmir is set to welcome international cricket stars once again, reigniting the region’s passion for the sport on a global stage. Kashmir will host the finals of the Legends League Cricket, marking a historic occasion in its rich cricket history.

The Legends League has undergone a few changes this season, including the extension of schedule, much to the delight of the fans. The tournament will kick off at Jodhpur, Rajasthan on 20 September and then move to the Lalbhai Contractor Stadium, Surat on September 27. Maulana Azad Stadium, Jammu will host the 3rd leg before the action moves to the valley where the final will be played at the Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar from October 10.

“Legends League Cricket is back for another season and we are very excited also to be playing in Kashmir this season. This is a huge opportunity for the people of Kashmir to come to the stadium and watch live cricketing action for the first time in almost 40 years. It also presents a unique opportunity for the cricketers to experience the beauty of Kashmir and enjoy the hospitality and love of the wonderful people of Srinagar.” said Mr. Raman Raheja, Co-Founder, of Legends League Cricket.

The last time international cricket was played in the valley was all the way back in 1986 when India played Australia in the second ODI of a 6-match series at the Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar.

Legends League Cricket 2024: Format & Auction Details

This season, a total of 25 matches will be played over three legs among the six teams and the last two teams standing will play an electrifying final in Srinagar on October 16. The auction will take place on Thursday, 29 August in New Delhi and over 200 players are set to go under the hammer.

Over the years, many huge names in world cricket have graced LLC with their presence. Cricket fans witnessed former international stars such as Suresh Raina, Aaron Finch, Martin Guptill, Gautam Gambhir, Chris Gayle, Hashim Amla, Ross Taylor, and many more play in the league, and this season, Dinesh Karthik and recently retired Shikhar Dhawan will also feature in the league.

Karthik has been confirmed to captain the Southern Super Stars in the Legends League Cricket 2024 while Dhawan is expected to attract suitors in the auction.

In the previous season, the league attracted an audience of 180 million across India during 19 matches, and the number is only expected to rise this season thanks to the increase in the number of matches and the new stars that are set to join the league.
