England’s legendary bowler James Anderson retired from international cricket earlier this year after becoming the third-highest wicket-taker(704), only behind Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan leading the list with 800 wickets and Australian late legend Shane Warne with 708 wickets.
In a surprising move, England’s pacer registered himself for the mega auction of IPL 2025 with a base price of INR 1.25 Cr, he last played a T20 match for Warwickshire in 2014 and he played 19 T20 matches for England between 2007-2009.
“There is still definitely something in me that thinks like I can still play. I have never done the IPL; I have never experienced it and I think for a number of reasons I feel like I have more to give as a player,” Anderson said.
He also said that playing in the most famous T20 league in the world, he wants to gain more experience and knowledge as a bowler, Anderson also spent some months with the England team as a mentor.
“I have done a little bit of coaching since I have finished in the summer. I have been around the England team doing a bit of mentoring or whatever you like to call it,” he said.
“I just think opening my eyes to something like that and experiencing it, sort of might help me grow my knowledge of the game and help further down the line,” Anderson added.
IPL auction will take place on 24, 25 November in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
