Nitish Reddy top-scored with 42 off 54 balls as India were dismissed for 180 in their first innings of the Pink-Ball Test in Adelaide on Friday. Mitchell Starc claimed a six-wicket haul, his first-ever in Tests against India, removing Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Reddy, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Harshit Rana. Starc finished with impressive figures of 6/48 from 14.1 overs. Pat Cummins and Scott Boland each took two wickets.
Earlier, Boland made an immediate impact at the start of the second session, dismissing India captain Rohit Sharma LBW for 1. This followed a destructive spell from Starc, who had dealt India three crucial blows, leaving them in a precarious position by the time the tea break arrived in Adelaide.
Starc started the second test with a bang as he trapped Jaiswal on the first ball of the match, and then a solid partnership between KL Rahul and Shubman Gill saw India reach 69/1 before Starc struck again. He dismissed Rahul and Virat Kohli in rapid succession, and then Boland sent Shubman Gill packing LBW for 31.

Rohit Sharma’s India chose to bat first after winning the toss. The team made three changes to their playing XI, with Rohit, Gill, and Ashwin replacing Dhruv Jurel, Devdutt Padikkal, and Washington Sundar. However, Australia made one forced change, Boland replacing injured Jos Hazelwood.
