The ICC T20 World Cup, held every two years, is now in its ninth edition. The 2024 edition has reached its finale, with South Africa and India as its finalists.
In the first semi final, South Africa defeated Afghanistan by 9 wickets, erasing the title of “chokers”. The second semi final featured India and England. India won the game by 68 runs. It’s the first time in 10 years India entered the finals.

T20 World Cup 2024- Final
The 9th edition of T20 World Cup is hosted by West Indies and USA. After 10 years, India has earned a place in finale. The winner of ICC T20 Men’s World Cup is yet to be decided. The final of this tournament will take place on June 29, featuring India and unbeaten South Africa. The marquee event featured 20 teams competing across 55 games from 2nd to 29th June 2024.
T20 World Cup 2022 – Semi final
India reached the semi final in the 2022 T20 World Cup. But the Men in Blue were defeated by England by 10 wickets. In this World Cup, Indian batsman Virat Kohli was the top run scorer with 296 runs in 6 matches.
T20 World Cup 2021 – Super 12s
This tournament was formally hosted by India with matches played in Oman and United Arab Emirates. India reached Super 12s in this tournament but failed to go beyond the first round.
T20 World Cup 2016 – Semi-final
India made it to semi-final in this T20 World Cup. In this World Cup, Indian batter, Virat Kohli was the Player of the Series. India, which hosted the tournament lost to West Indies in the semis.
T20 World Cup 2014- Final
Ten years ago, India was last seen in the finale of T20 World Cup 2014. Sri Lanka was dominant in the game, winning their first ever trophy. India reached final for the second time, but was defeated by 6 wickets. Virat Kohli however was both the Player of the match and the top run-scorer.
T20 World Cup 2012 – Super 8
In this edition of the tournament, India couldn’t cross the Super8s. Their journey towards the trophy came to an end after getting defeated by Australia by 9 wickets in the Super Eights.
T20 World Cup 2010 – Super 8
In the 2010 edition, India lost to Sri Lanka by 5 wickets at the Super Eight stage. They couldn’t enter the next stage of the tournament.
T20 World Cup 2009 – Super 8
The inaugural champions in the second edition could only reach to Super 8s of T20 World Cup 2009. The lost the match to South Africa by 12 runs.
T20 World Cup 2007 Winner- India
ICC Men’s T20 World Cup launched its first edition in 2007. India was the first to win T20 World Cup under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. In this match, India defeated the neighboring rivals, Pakistan by just 5 runs.
