After India’s defeat to Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy last week, there have been many reports on social media saying that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will introduce stricter rules for players during tours.

It is being reported that the BCCI will limit the time players can spend with their families, allowing family members to stay with them for no more than 14 days on a tour that lasts 45 days.

The report also stated that Indian players will not be allowed to use private transport to travel to practices and matches. India’s captain Rohit Sharma, head coach Gautam Gambhir, and chief selector Ajit Agarkar were made aware of this decision during a meeting with BCCI officials in Mumbai last Saturday.

Experienced and renowned cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle has shared his opinion on this matter, suggesting that the BCCI should focus on banning players from having their PR agencies instead.

“Reading of the changes the BCCI is apparently suggesting for the Indian team. I don’t know how much to believe but if I had to nominate one rule to be strictly applied, it would be to ban team members from having PR agencies,” Bhogle wrote in a post on his official X handle.

After the loss to Australia, senior players like Rohit and Virat Kohli have faced a lot of criticism for their poor performances with the bat in the series. India struggled badly with the bat in the whole series. India lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after a decade.

Rohit made just 31 runs in three matches and five innings, with an average of 6.20. On the other hand, Virat Kohli ended the series with 190 runs in five matches and nine innings, averaging 23.75, which included a century.

Gautam Gambhir’s future as the head coach is also unclear. The BCCI is likely to decide his role after the Champions Trophy in February-March.
