WNBA News: Jewel Loyd Stars as Seattle Storm Beat Dallas Wings 97-76

Seattle Storm defeated the Dallas Wings 97-76 on Saturday night in WNBA in Seattle, Washington. Jewel Loyd starred in the show scoring 30 points.

Seattle applied pressure from the start of the game restricting Dallas’ offensive threats. Storm led 28-25 after the first quarter. At the start of the second quarter, Seattle went on a 7-1 run and never really looked back. Despite Dallas’ pressure, Seattle went into halftime with a comfortable lead of 54-41.

Storm went on a 10-0 run early in the second half to take the game beyond the reach of Dallas Wings. The third quarter ended with a scoreline of 80-59.

With the game already wrapped up, the final quarter was more or less lackluster. Both sides ended 17 points to their score as the game ended 97-76 in favor of Seattle Storm.

This was Loyd’s second consecutive 30-point game and she also made 5 assists and 5 rebounds. Loyd made 6 of her 14 shots and 16 of 17 free throws to anchor the game for Seattle Storm.

Jordan Horston scored 12 points, and 11 rebounds, and four assists with Nneka Ogwumike scoring 16 points.

Arike Ogunbowale was the top point scorer for the Dallas Wings with 24. Teaira McCowan scored 15 points and Natasha Howard scored 12. Natasha Howard also had a great outing with the 32-year-old veteran putting numbers of 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists to her name.

This win was Seattle’s third consecutive win in the WNBA and their seventh straight at home. Seattle Storm are placed second in the Western Conference table with 9.4 offensive rebounds per game led by Ezi Magbegor averaging 2.9 offenses.

Dallas Wings remain 5th with only 4 wins from 14 games.

The two sides will meet again on Monday night at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington.
