The much-awaited fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul was set to take place on July 20. However, the event was postponed following Tyson’s illness.
The veteran boxer complained of dizziness and was nauseous on his flight from Miami to Los Angeles. Later his camp clarified that it was an ulcer-related issue. Following the medical examinations, the 57-year-old was deemed medically unclear for the fight.
However, a new date has been released and the event will now take place on November 15, 2024, inside AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Paul agreed to a new date and said that it would be fair if both the fighters got an equal amount of time to train for the fight.
“Our team has worked diligently with all parties involved to reschedule this monumental fight to a date that ensures both Jake Paul and Mike Tyson are fully prepared“, Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions, said. “We appreciate the outstanding dedication, collaboration, and flexibility of our partners at Netflix and AT&T Stadium. Paul vs. Tyson is the most cross-generational sporting event in history. And we are committed to providing fans worldwide with this unforgettable night of boxing, live globally on Netflix. We look forward to seeing everyone on Friday, November 15 for a showdown that will be talked about for generations to come.”
Tyson has sent some strong words to the YouTuber saying that he was going to kill him inside the ring. “New date for Jake’s wake” the message read.
At the time of his retirement, Tyson accomplished a staggering record of 50 wins, six losses, and two no-contests. On the other hand, the Problem Child has fought 10 times in his career with his sole defeat coming against Tommy Fury in 2023 by a split decision.
