Ikram Aliskerov will fight former Middleweight champion, Robert Whittaker on 22 June 2024 at UFC Saudi Arabia inside Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
This fight will be Aliskerov’s third in the UFC. He defeated Phil Hawes at UFC 288 and Warlley Alves at UFC 294 to earn a shot against top UFC contender Robert Whittaker.
Early Life
Aliskerov was born on December 7, 1992, in Dagestan, Russia. He began wrestling and judo classes at the age of 9. He trained under the watchful eyes of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s father, Abdulmanap Nurmagodmedov. At the age of 19, he began his full Mixed Martial Arts training at the ‘Champion’ club. Aliskerov won gold at the Combat Sambo World Championships under 82 kg category in 2012.
Wins over big names like Yaroslav Amosov, Murad Kerimov, and Raimond Magomedaliev made him a known name in combat sambo.
His Journey To UFC
In 2017, Aliskerov joined the Brave Combat Federation where he won 8 of his 9 fights. During his time at the franchise, he defeated notable fighters such as Miro Jurković and Denis Tiuliulin. His only defeat came against fellow UFC star Khamzat Chimaev at BCF 23 via knockout. This defeat is Aliskerov’s only defeat to date.
After his spell at Brave Combat Federation, Aliskerov joined the Eagle Fighting Championship where he fought once defeating Nah-Shon Burrell in the catchweight division via unanimous decision.
He then joined Dana White’s contender series defeating Mário Sousa in the very first round of the fight. This victory earned him a contract in the UFC.
