The competition has heated up as the US Open enters its closing stages, with the top players fiercely competing for the coveted title. Some of the big names have already crashed out of the tournament and some are cruising through into the final rounds.

The likes of Jannick Sinner and Daniil Medvedev are looking unstoppable while Iga Swiatek looks like the player to beat in the women’s competition.

Men’s Results

Jannick Sinner, who according to many should have been banned by ATP for his failed drug test, continues to blow his opponents away. Tommy Paul was his victim in the Round of 16 as the Italian cruised to a 7-6, 7-6, 6-1 win.

The top seed remains dominant and is set to face Daniil Medvedev again on Wednesday, aiming to avenge his Wimbledon quarterfinal defeat in their second consecutive Grand Slam clash.

No. 5 seed Daniil Medvedev defeated Nuno Borges by 6-0, 6-1, 6-3 to reach the quarterfinals and Jack Draper comfortably saw off Tomas Machac by 6-3, 6-1, 6-2 in their Round of 16 clash.

No. 10 Alex De Minaur defeated Jordan Thompson 6-0, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5.

In the Men’s doubles, 4th seed Ivan Dodig and Adam Pavlasek beat Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic 7-5, 7-6.

Women’s Results

Iga Swiatek hardly broke a sweat in a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Liudmila Samsonova. On Wednesday, for the second time in three years, the top seed will meet Jessica Pegula in the quarterfinals.

Elsewhere, seed No. 5 Jasmine Paolini fell to Karolina Muchova 6-3, 6-3, and seed No. 6 Jessica Pegula defeated Diana Shnaider 6-4, 6-2. Seed No. 22 Beatriz Haddad Maia beat Caroline Wozniacki 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.

In the women’s doubles, the American duo of Sofia Kenin and Bethanie Mattek-Sands beat 8th seed Demi Schuurs and Luisa Stefani 6-4, 6-3.
