Barcelona have relieved manager Xavi from his duties before the final game of the season. This news comes weeks after Xavi announced he would stay at Camp Nou for upcoming season. Xavi had reportedly angered club President Laporta earlier this month by stating the financial struggles the club was facing.

Xavi would take his final game in-charge of Barcelona away at Sevilla.

Xavi who led Barcelona to 2022-23 league title revealed in January that he would be leaving the club in the summer. The things took a U turn when club officials including Laporta publicly urged Xavi to rethink his decision and eventually in April he confirmed that he was staying at Camp Nou.

However, things have taken a drastic turn again after Barcelona revealed in a statement “Barcelona president Joan Laporta has told Xavi Hernandez he will not continue as coach for the 2024-25 season,”

Barcelona have already found a replacement for Xavi in the form of Hansi Flick. The Catalan club has held talks with the German manager in the recent days and things have gone according to the plan for both parties. The final decision on the manager will be made on the last day of the season when Barca will be at Sevilla on Sunday night.
