Top Young Players to Watch Out For at Euro 2024
Euro 2024 is all set to take center stage this summer as 24 nations will battle it out in Germany to take Europe’s ultimate prize. All the teams have announced their squads for the tournament with some big names missing out and many young guns getting a chance to represent their nation.
With Euro 2024 just a few days away, we take a look at some of the young players to watch out for in Germany.
Cole Palmer – England
Moving from Manchester City to Chelsea proved to be a great decision for the English midfielder as he enjoyed a breakthrough first season with Chelsea scoring 22 goals and making 11 assists.
He was on the scoresheet on his full debut for the Three Lions against Bosnia and Herzegovina and has already made himself an important player for Gary Southgate’s men ahead of their first game against Serbia.

Florian Wirtz – Germany
The 21-year-old midfielder was one of the ever-presents in the Bayer Leverkusen team as they became the first invincibles in German football, doing a league and cup double. In his 49 games in all competitions, he scored 18 goals and made 19 assists. He is now on the radar of some big clubs like Bayern Munich and Real Madrid this summer.
This will be his first major tournament with Germany and if he manages to replicate his club form in the German National team, they would definitely be a force to reckon with in their home Euros.
Lamine Yamal – Spain
Having made his Barcelona debut at the age of 15, Lamine Yamal continues to break records as he became the youngest goal scorer in La Liga at 16 years and 87 days.
He also became the youngest debutant and goal scorer for Spain. He scored 5 goals and made 5 assists in his 37 appearances this season for the Catalans. Now that he has been called up for the Euro 2024 by Spain, he is likely going to start in the front three alongside Dani Olmo and Álvaro Morata.

Jeremy Doku – Belgium
Impressing Pep Guardiola is not everyone’s piece of cake, however, such has not been the case with 22-year Jeremy Doku. He was an integral part of Manchester City’s Premier League winning season scoring 3 goals and assisting 8.
Known for his speed, power, and technical ability, he was one of the first names named for the Belgium Euro squad. He joined the Belgium senior squad in 2020 and is regarded as one the key players in Belgium’s golden generation.
Arda Güler – Turkey
Known as the ‘Turkish Messi’, Arda Güler is known for his dribbling skills and versatility. He was signed by Real Madrid last summer on a six-year deal. Guler will have a lot of eyes on him this summer in Germany but the pressure does not seem to affect the little magician.
The 19-year-old will have a key role to play in Turkey’s bid to reach the latter stages of the competition.

Warren Zaïre-Emery – France
18-year-old Warren Zaire-Emery became the youngest player in over a century to play and score for the French National side. He also became the youngest player to play for Paris Saint Germain in August 2022. The Frenchman will be going to the Euros this summer with many tipping him to become the heart of the midfield amid the decline of Paul Pogba, N’golo Kante, and Blaise Matuidi.
Kobbie Mainoo – England
Kobbie Mainoo enjoyed a tremendous season at Manchester United. He is known for his ability to win the ball back and was regarded as the best box-to-box midfielder in United this season. Despite suffering from injuries during the first part of the season, the 19-year-old was quick to establish himself as a regular starter at Old Trafford. He famously scored in a 2-1 victory against Manchester City in the FA Cup final. Mainoo now has a chance to establish his name at the International level and is likely to partner Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice in the Three Lions midfield.
