Last week Real Madrid lifted their 15th European crown by defeating Borussia Dortmund 2-0 at the Wembley Stadium in London. With this win they completed a league and European double having won the La Liga with a ten point gap over rivals FC Barcelona.
As the Real Madrid fans are still celebrating their Champions League win, they have been given more reasons to celebrate as Los Blancos finally announced the signing of Kylian Mbappe following his Paris Saint Germain exit. Mbappe almost signed for Real couple of years ago but the move broke down. Now they have finally got their man and the news comes a cherry on the cake for Real Madrid fans following last week’s Champions League triumph.
Kylian Mbappé’s Contract Details, Salary, Jersey Number
Mbappe joined Real Madrid on a free transfer following his expiry of PSG contract. The forward has signed a five year contract with Spanish Champions which would keep him at the club until 2029. According to BBC Sport, Mbappe’s contract is worth €15 million net per season averaging €288,000 per week.
Mbappe’s base salary at the PSG was €75m per year which was significantly high as compared what he will earn at Real Madrid. However this drop was more or less expected given the financial rules imposed by both UEFA and La Liga. Mbappe would also receive his signing fee bonus of around €150 million which would be paid over the duration of his stay.
Real Madrid have not confirmed the jersey number that Kylian Mbappe would wear. Mbappe wore jersey no. 7 at Paris and would have loved to have the honor of wearing that historic number that some of the big names like Cristiano Ronaldo, Raul, Emilio Butragueño have previously wore at Real Madrid.
However, the famous no. 7 is currently on the back on Vinicius Junior. Jersey no. 9 is currently unoccupied at Real Madrid and there is a sizeable chance that Mbappe would take that up.
Mbappe’s Words On His Move To Real Madrid
Following his much awaited move to Real Madrid, Mbappe was quick to share his thoughts on social media. “A dream come true, So happy and proud to join the club of my dream, Real Madrid. Nobody can understand how excited I am right now. Can’t wait to see you, Madridistas, and thanks for your unbelievable support. ¡Hala Madrid!” Mbappe wrote.
Mbappe will be on International duty this summer in Germany as France would look to add a third European Championship to their cabinet. His debut for Real Madrid will likely come in pre-season when they are scheduled to play a friendly against AC Milan at Soldier Field, Chicago on July 31.
