Fernabache coach, Jose Mourinho, stated on Wednesday that he has not lost hope of securing a Premier League title for Manchester United ahead of their reunion on Thursday night in a Europa League fixture in Turkey.

Speaking to the media, the former Real Madrid boss suggested that Manchester United could still be crowned English champions for 2018 if Manchester City is found guilty of violating the league’s financial regulations and has its titles revoked. Man City are facing 115 charges for breaching Premier League financial regulations and could potentially be stripped of their titles or have points deducted if found guilty. Mourinho guided Manchester United to a second-place finish in the 2017-18 season, ending 19 points behind the champions, City.

“We finished second in the Premier League,” Mourinho said at a news conference Wednesday. “I think we still have a chance to win that league because maybe they punish Man City with points and maybe we win that league and they have to pay me the bonus and give me the medal.”

City is confronting over 100 charges spanning a nine-year period, during which the club aimed to establish itself as the dominant force in English football. Possible penalties, as outlined by league rules, include fines, points deductions, or even expulsion from the Premier League.

Mourinho also backed under-fire manager, Eric Ten Hag to turn the tide at Old Trafford. He expressed his belief that his former club will soon achieve success, despite the current turmoil surrounding the Red Devils. Erik ten Hag’s squad currently sits in 12th place in the standings, having won only three of their first eight league matches and remain winless in the Europa League.

“Having analyzed them with my team, there is work there and they will succeed sooner or later,” Mourniho said. “I want them to be successful. I wish the best for the coach and players.

“I want the best for them. If things are not going amazingly well for them, it’s not something that makes me happy,” he said.

Mourinho led United to Europa League and Carabao Cup glory during his stint at the club, which were their first two major trophies after the Sir Alex Ferguson era. After leaving Roma in January, Mourinho joined Fernabache in a bid to end their 10-year wait for the Turkish championship.
