Euro 2024 has delivered some close finishes and outstanding goals and with the tournament reaching its final stages, there is a lot to look forward to as the road to Berlin begins.
Germany will play Spain in the heavyweight clash of the final eight while France will play Portugal in Euro 2016 final rematch.
Spain vs Germany – Stuttgart
Both teams are undefeated in the tournament so far. Germany won two matches in their group against Scotland and Hungary and drew against fellow quarterfinalist Switzerland. They faced a tough test against Denmark in the Round of 16 but the hosts came out as 2-0 winners.
Spain come into the last 8 with a 100% record beating Italy, Croatia, and Albania in the group stage. In their first knockout match, they demolished newcomers Georgia 4-1.
Spain hold the edge over the Germans in their head-to-head record with Spain winning 3 and Germany winning 1.
The two sides last met in FIFA World Cup 2022 where the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
France vs Portugal – Hamburg
The rematch of the Euro 2016 final awaits as France play Portugal in the quarter-final of the Euro 2024. Portugal have faced some bumps in the road after making a good start in the tournament. The Euro 2024 beat Czechia and Turkiye in the first two games but lost to Georgia in the third.
They had to dig deep in their Round of 16 clash against Slovenia. The game ended in a 0-0 draw after 120 minutes. Diogo Costa was the hero for Portugal who saved three penalties in a row to take his team to the quarter-finals.

France finished second in the group D with 5 points. They beat Austria in their opening match and drew the next two against Netherlands and Poland.
They saw off Belgium in their first knockout match to book a clash against Portugal in the last 8.
Portugal have only won once in the pair’s last 7 meetings but that win famously came in the Euro 2016 final when Eder scored the only goal of the match in extra time.
England vs Switzerland – Düsseldorf
Switzerland continue to impress in the Euro 2024 as they reached the quarter-final of the Euros for only the second time in their history.
They finished second in Group A beating Hungary in their opening match and drawing against Scotland and hosts Germany in their next two.
They then eliminated the defending champions Italy in the last 16 beating the Azzurri 2-0.
England had a lackluster group stage with just one win and two draws. However, the Three Lions did showcase their talent in the Round of 16 as they came from behind to beat Slovakia 2-1.
The Three Lions have played Switzerland on 27 occasions, winning 19 drawing 5, and losing 3 times.
Romania/Netherlands v Austria/Turkey – Berlin
The winner of the last 16 clash between Romania and Netherlands will face the winner Austria and Turkey in the quarterfinals in Berlin.
Romania and Netherlands will faceoff at the Allianz Arena in Munich followed by Turkey’s clash against Austria at Leipzig.
