Euro 2024 Preview: Cristiano Ronaldo, Arda Guler Take Center Stage, Belgium Look to Stay Alive and Georgia vs Czechia
In the latest matches of Euro 2024, Türkiye will take on Portugal in an intriguing battle in Group F. Georgia and Czechia will look to keep their hopes alive when they meet in the other match of Group F. Belgium will look to bounce back from their opening match defeat when they play Romania.
Georgia vs Czechia – Group F
Georgia and Czechia both were on the wrong side of the scorelines in their opening matches with Georgia losing to Türkiye and Czechia defeated by Portugal. Both teams know that a defeat in their second match will complicate their chances of reaching the Round of 16.
Georgia are appearing in their first major tournament and would want to make a mark on the tournament rather than just making up numbers. The meeting with Czechia will be the first time that the two teams meet in a competitive match.
Türkiye vs Portugal – Group F
Türkiye earned a hard-fought win against Georgia in their first match and will now look to take down one of the favorites of the competition Portugal, at Dortmund. The Portuguese, on the other hand, had to dig deep to beat the Czech Republic thanks to a stoppage-time winner.
Arda Guler once again will take center stage for Türkiye after he became the youngest debutant to score at the Euros surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has never scored against Türkiye throughout his career and would be eager to hit the back of the net and take Portugal into the knockout stage.
A win for either side will see them qualify for the Round of 16 stage.
Portugal are favorites going into the match. Ronaldo will again be the center of attention to lead Portugal into the knockout stages. Turkiye on the other hand will go into the match with no shortage of confidence as they look to send a message to the rest of the teams by toppling Portugal.
Belgium vs Romania – Group E
Belgium suffered an early setback in Euro 2024 losing to Slovakia on the opening day. They will now face Romania in their second match in Cologne. Romania will have their tails up after a 3-0 victory over Ukraine and can book a place in the next round with a win over Belgium.
The two sides met in an international friendly in 2012 in their last meeting with Romania winning 2-1.
Belgium know that they can ill-afford any complacencies against a solid Romanian side which can see them on the brink of elimination.
