Jammu and Kashmir administrator Majid Dar has spoken about Umran Malik’s availability for the upcoming Indian Premier League season. Malik, known for his lightning-fast pace, has been sidelined for a while now.

He hasn’t played for Jammu and Kashmir this season. He missed the Ranji Trophy’s main phase and was also excluded from the squads for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Amid this, there have been worries about the player’s availability for the IPL 2025 season. Defending champions KKR signed him at his base price, but the Knight Riders may have concerns about his fitness before the season starts. However, J&K’s current administrator Majid Dar has explained why Umran has been absent and reassured that the pace star will be ready for the IPL.

In an exclusive chat with MyKhel, Majid Dar mentioned that the Indian fast bowler has completed rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru and will be in much better condition for the IPL 2025.

“It is very unfortunate [that Umran Malik hasn’t played] but he had an injury. So he is working on it and we shall see him in IPL. This year he is going to be in much better shape.”

He was in rehab at National Cricket Academy and he is under continuous observation of BCCI. The Board is taking care of him and as he becomes fit, you will see him in IPL playing for KKR at his best,” Dar added.

In addition to Umran, several other players from Jammu and Kashmir will be part of the IPL this season. Rasikh Salam Dar became the most expensive uncapped player in the auction, with RCB buying him for Rs 6 crore. Other players like Abdul Samad (Lucknow Super Giants) and Yudhvir Charak (Rajasthan Royals) are also set to play.
