Shaheen Afridi Set for BPL Stint

Pakistan’s standout pacer, Shaheen Shah Afridi, is poised to make his debut in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). The 11th season of the BPL is scheduled to begin on December 30 and conclude on February 7, 2025, featuring seven franchises: Dhaka Capitals, Chittagong Kings, Durbar Rajshahi, Fortune Barishal, Khulna Tigers, Rangpur Riders, and Sylhet Strikers.

The 11th season of the BPL, set to begin on December 30, will commence with a match between Fortune Barishal and debutants Durbar Rajshahi at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.

In an announcement, the defending champions Fortune Barishal confirmed Shaheen’s addition to their team. “Pakistani left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi will play for Fortune Barishal in the upcoming BPL,” he said.

Fortune’s representative confirmed that the 24-year-old was signed directly, and the pacer will be available for the first five matches of the competition, as the Pakistan Cricket Board provided him with a no-objection certificate valid until January 15.

The BPL, comprising seven teams—Dhaka Capitals, Chittagong Kings, Durbar Rajshahi, Fortune Barishal, Khulna Tigers, Rangpur Riders, and Sylhet Strikers—is set to run until February 7.
