Securing tickets for the India-Pakistan match has become challenging, as the high-stakes clash between these neighboring rivals has generated significant demand. The T20 World Cup 2024 matches are co-hosted by USA and West Indies.
The tournament has begun from June 02. In the first group stage match of the tournament, India had a winning start. India won against Ireland in the first match on June 02 while as on June 03, Pakistan was defeated by the co-host USA.
In their second match, India vs Pakistan match is set to take place on June 9. The T20 matches are taking place at various venues across the USA and the Caribbean. But the high-staked clash of India and Pakistan has led to the extensive profiteering in the resale market.
ICC on what it calls, “public ballot” started selling tickets, a process in which fans apply for tickets and some getting it randomly. In 34,000-capacity stadium, the demand for the India-Pakistan match, had exceeded to 200 times.
Few tickets were still available on the official International Cricket Council (ICC) site without markups until Friday night.
$175,400 (Rs 1.46 crore) Ticket for India vs Pakistan Match
Stubhub, Viagogo act as a platform guaranteeing the transaction, between seller and buyer of tickets based on the value of the ticket.
Stubhub made the headlines by listing the price of $175,400 (Rs 1.46 crore) on the resale market. Single ticket for seat 30 in Row 20 of Section 252 at the T20 World Cup stadium in East Meadow on entertainment and sports events resale market platform can be legally sold with markups.
On another resale site, Viagogo, ticket has been listed for that same price, probably by the same person. However, it is ultimately up to the seller to set the final price.
It is important to note that not every match has such hyped ticket price. On Saturday, for Netherlands-South Africa match at the same venue tickets were available between $120 for Premium and $700 for Premium Club sections on the ICC site.
Also for the upcoming, India-US match on June 12 were listed at $300 for Premium, $1,000 for Premium Club Lounge, Cabanas for $1,350, and Diamond Club for $7,500.
For India vs Pakistan, though $175,400 demand for a ticket, on the secondary site price for the ticket in demand ranged between $700 and $1,000, still a big markup.
The India vs Pakistan epic clash in the Group-Stage match will take place at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
