The situation is heating up around the Champions Trophy as the Pakistani government may instruct the PCB to withdraw from the tournament as India confirmed that they will not travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025.
PCB seems to stand firm on the decision of not even considering the hybrid model for the ICC tournament as Pakistan has been ready to host the ICC tournament for the first time since the 1996 ODI World Cup. According to a report from Cricbuzz if Pakistan withdraws their team from the tournament they might lose the hosting fee amounting to $65 Million along with a decrease in the funding they get from the ICC.
PCB chairman, Mohsin Naqvi said in the press conference, “We have a clear stance that they must give it to us in writing if they [the Indian Cricket Board] have any issues. Till today, we have not spoken about any hybrid model, but we’re ready to speak on this, Now, if Indian media is reporting this, then there must be some letter the ICC will give us, or the Indian Board might have written this somewhere. Till now, no such letter has reached me or the PCB,”
India last traveled to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2008 and the last bilateral series between India and Pakistan was played in 2012-13.
