With continuously developing infrastructure, bowlers from Kashmir continue to make a promising rise as they look to make a lasting impression on the national and international stage.

Let us take a look at the bowlers with the most wickets for Kashmir in T20s.

1. Parvez Rasool

Parvez Rasool was born on 13 February 1989 in Bijbehara area of Anantnag district. The right arm off break bowler has taken 54 wickets in 56 matches in T20s with an impressive economy of 6.16. Rasool was the face of the Jammu and Kashmir cricket team for much of his playing time. He became the first player from the valley to bag an IPL contract and also led Jammu and Kashmir to the quarter-finals of the Ranji trophy in 2014.

Rasool famously took 7 for 45 for the Board President’s XI against Australia in a warm-up match in 2023. He also represented India in the T20I against England when he famously dismissed star batsman Eoin Morgan.

2. Umar Nazir

Umar Nazir hails from the Pulwama district of J&K. He has taken 31 wickets in 22 matches with an economy of 6.98 in his T20 career. The right-arm medium pacer has represented the Jammu and Kashmir state team, North Zone, and India C in his playing career. In the Inter-State T20 tournament, Nazir famously helped J&K to defend a score of 127 against high-flying Punjab by taking 4 wickets.

Despite not breaking into the Indian National Team, Nazir left a lasting mark on the cricket of Jammu and Kashmir, and the veteran has still plenty to offer to whichever club he joins next season.

3. Samiullah Beigh

Samiullah Beigh hails from Srinagar city of Jammu and Kashmir. He represented J&K from 2002 to 2017 as an all-rounder. He has taken 26 wickets from 23 matches with an economy rate of 7.12. Beigh has the best bowling figures of 3/15 in T20s which came in a domestic league match.

The former Ranji captain of J&K retired from cricket in 2017. He went on to earn a cricket coaching degree from Australia and opened his cricket academy in Srinagar.

4. Wasim Raza Parray

Wasim Raza Parray was born in 1993 in Srinagar city of J&K. The left-arm spinner has taken 23 wickets from 27 matches in his T20 career with an economy of 7.75. He burst onto the cricketing scene with his terrific performance in the 2014 Ranji trophy season when he took his first 5 wicket haul against Tamil Nadu.

In the Vijay Hazare trophy 2018-2019, he took 12 wickets in 8 matches to earn the applause of the fans across the valley. Though his dream of playing in the IPL never materialized, he still is regarded as one of the best bowlers to have played for Jammu and Kashmir.

5. Abid Nabi

Abid Nabi was born in 1985 in the Srinagar district of Jammu and Kashmir. He was regarded as one of the fastest bowlers in India. In his career, he has represented Jammu and Kashmir U16, U19, and their senior team. He also played in the Indian Cricket League for Delhi Giants. He has taken 22 wickets in 25 matches in T20s with an impressive economy of 6.94.

In his very first Ranji appearance against Odisha in 2004, Abid Nabi took five wickets. According to record books, Nabi took a lesser number of first-class innings to claim 100 wickets than Kapil Dev. Nabi was one of the net bowlers for the Indian cricket team in Mohali where he won the applauds of star test batsman VVS Laxman.
