On Sunday, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi appointed Mohammed Rizwan as Pakistan’s new white-ball captain following Babar Azam, who recently stepped down from the role. All-rounder Salman Ali Agha was named as the new vice-captain for Pakistan white-ball squads.
Pakistan’s selectors picked six uncapped players in the ODI squad including Amir Jamal, Arafat Minhas, Faisal Akram, Haseebullah, Muhammed Irfan Khan, Saim Ayub. Jahandad Khan and Agha Salman will join the T20I squad for the first time.
Pacer Mohammed Hasnain has been recalled for the ODI squad on the basis of his performance in the Champions One Day Cup in Pakistan, where he played 6 matches and took 17 wickets at an average of 16.17. He was the leading wicket-taker in that tournament.
Star players like Babar Azam, Naseem Shah, and Shaheen Afridi who were rested for the last two tests against England will rejoin the team for the Australia tour. Kamran Ghulam, Omar Bin Yousuf, and Sufiyan Moqim will also join the team for these upcoming tours.
During the press conference, Rizwan stated: “I am deeply honored to be appointed as Pakistan’s white-ball captain. Representing Pakistan on the global stage is the greatest privilege and to now be entrusted with leading such a talented and exciting group of players is a tremendous honour. Joining the ranks of some of Pakistan’s legendary limited-overs captains truly is the icing on the cake.”

Pakistan will play 3 ODI’s from 4 November to 10 November, followed by three T20Is from 14-18 November.
