Michael Clarke Lashes Out at Australia for BGT Preference After ODI Series Loss to Pakistan

Australian former captain Michael Clarke expressed frustration regarding the team management’s decision to rest key players in the third and final ODI against Pakistan. This decision contributed to Pakistan’s first-ever series win against Australia in Australia since 2002. Clarke expressed his disappointment in Big Sports Breakfast raising questions about why the team prioritized rest for star players like Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazelwood, Steve Smith, and Marnus Labuschagne.

“I’m just a bit confused. With 11 days between now and the first Test, why can’t the Aussie boys who are part of this Test series play in the one-dayer?”

In the series decider, the Australian young batting lineup only managed to score 140 runs against Pakistan’s lethal bowling which the visitors chased comfortably in just 27 overs. Hosts failed to impress with the batting in all three ODIs, no Australian batter scored 50 in the whole series.

If Australia had won the first two games, then you can understand why they rest their big fish, but it was series on the line. I feel like we obviously don’t care about losing that series.”If you’re not going to care, we’re not going to care. You can’t expect the fans to want to come and watch one-day cricket. We are bagging one-day cricket, no one is turning up, hasn’t got the interest,” Clarke said.
