J&K Cricketer Rubia Syed Selected by India A for Challenger Trophy

Rubia Syed of Jammu and Kashmir has been selected for the India ‘A’ team for the upcoming Senior Women’s T20 Challenger Trophy, according to KSW. Anantnag-born batter performed well in recent Senior Women’s T20 to earn the call-up from India A, she will participate in Harleen Deol-led team.

She was the second-top scorer in the league phase of the senior women’s T20 Trophy, she smashed 93 runs off 51 balls against Mizoram, and she also scored an unbeaten 78 runs with bowling figures of 1/16(3) against Tamil Nadu. She’s been performing very well for a long time now and earned a well-deserved call-up for India-A.

The right-handed batter has yet to secure a Women’s Premium League (WPL). She has the golden opportunity to attract the franchise owners as WPL 2025 may be held in February. Last year Gujarat Titans called her for a selection trail camp for WPL, and in 2024 Mumbai Indians invited her to participate in a selection trail camp. Rubia is the sole batter from Jammu and Kashmir to have scored a century in Senior Women’s One-Day matches.
