India began the Super 8 campaign with a victory against Afghanistan by 47 runs. India was the first to bat and produced a total of 181 runs. In the second innings, they restricted Afghanistan to 134 runs.

On the other side, Bangladesh had a bitter start in the second stage of the tournament. They lost by 28 runs to Australia via DLS method. Australia limited Bangladesh to a total of 140/8. The inning where Pat Cummins made a hat-trick. When rain stopped the game, Australia had scored 100 in 11.2 overs.

India tops the Group 1 points table of Super 8, with Australia on second place due to difference in net run rate.

India and Bangladesh will be locking horns in their second match. This match will take India close to semi-final whereas Bangladesh will have to fight the in-form Indians. If Bangladesh loses, it will mean that they will be out of the tournament.
