The third Test between Australia and India at the Gabba ended in a draw after bad weather disrupted play. Only 24.1 overs were possible on the final day before rain and poor light stopped the match. India, chasing 275 in 54 overs, were 8 for 0 when the game was called off after Tea.
Rain affected the entire Test, with just 216.1 overs bowled overall—less than three full days of play. Day 1 saw only 13.2 overs, and Day 3 had just 33.1 overs. Despite the interruptions, Australia dominated early, scoring 445 in their first innings.
India fought back with help from the weather and injuries to Australia’s bowlers. Fast bowler Josh Hazlewood left with a calf injury, leaving Australia short of options. KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja hit crucial half-centuries, and a gutsy 47-run last-wicket stand by Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah helped India avoid the follow-on late on Day 4.
The play has been abandoned in Brisbane and the match is drawn.

On Day 5, Australia pushed hard for a win after a rain-delayed morning. Their batters attacked, but India responded with quick wickets. Bumrah dismissed Usman Khawaja again for the fourth time in this Border-Gavaskar Trophy in a similar style, while Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj also struck, leaving Australia at 33 for 5.
Travis Head and Alex Carey added 27 runs, and captain Pat Cummins smashed 22 off 10 balls before Cummins bravely declared at 89 for 7, giving India a target of 275 runs.
India’s openers faced just 2.1 overs before bad light ended the match. With the series tied, both teams now look ahead to an exciting Boxing Day Test in Melbourne starting on 26 December, Thursday.
