Star Pakistani pacer, Shaheen Afridi and his wife Ansha Afridi welcomed a baby boy on Saturday, 24 August 2024. Ansa Afridi, who is the daughter of former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi, married Shaheen in Karachi in September 2023 and the Walima reception ceremony took place in the capital city of Islamabad after initially getting engaged back in 2021.
The left-arm pacer is currently on national duty in a two-match Test series against Bangladesh and will rejoin the team before the 2nd test starts in Pindi on August 30. The 24-year-old celebrated his son’s birth by letting his emotions sink out in the field. He celebrated the arrival of his newborn child alongside taking the important wicket of Hasan Mahmud by mimicking the cradling of a newborn in his arms.

How many children does Shaheen Afridi have?
Shaheen Afridi and his wife Ansha Afridi have named their son Ali Yar. Ali Yar is an Arabic name that means ‘noble’ or ‘elevated’. The baby boy is the couple’s first child, making them parents for the first time.
Yar’s birth also meant that Shahid Afridi became a grandfather for the first time after the birth of his daughter’s son. “We are receiving loving messages from all our friends on becoming the youngest grandfather in the world of cricket. My family and I thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for joining us in our happiness.” Afridi wrote on X.

The Gold medal winner in the Paris Olympics, Arshad Nadeem was among the first to congratulate Shaheen Afridi for the birth of his son. The 27-year-old took to X to congratulate Shaheen Afridi on becoming a father and Shahid Afridi on becoming a grandfather.
