Highest Run Scorers in T20 World Cup History

In ICC T20 World Cup 2024 that started from June 01, has recorded seven matches on the field so far.

In the history of T20 World Cup , we have some awe-inspiring run-getters.

Virat Kohli numbered first in the list holds the record for scoring most in a single T20 World Cup. 

Virat Kohli has mustered 1,141 runs in 27 matches at a stellar average of 81.50. His highest score being an 89 not-out against West Indies in the 2016 edition. In a single T20 World Cup, Kohli has scored 319 runs in six matches during the 2014 edition. 

Mahela Jayawardene, former Sri Lanka cricket team batsman, is the second on the list. In five editions of the T20 World Cup between 2007 and 2014, Jayawardene scored 1,016 runs in 31 matches at an average of 39.07 and a strike rate of 134.74.

He was also the highest run-getter in the T20 World Cup 2010 in the Caribbean as he scored 302 runs in six matches. Additionally, Jayawardene became the first Sri Lankan to score a ton in T20 World Cups when he achieved the feat against hosts West Indies in 2010.

Chris Gayle, third on the list is West Indies’ celebrated player. He has hit the most sixes in T20 cricket. He has accumulated 965 runs in 33 matches at an average of 34.46 and a strike rate of 142.75.

Rohit Sharma , Indian captain fourth in the list, has gathered 963, close to Gayle in 39 matches at an average of 34.39 and a strike rate of 127.88.

Tillakaratne Dilshan, former Sri Lankan cricketer, fifth on the list, covered 897 runs in 35 matches at an average of 30.93 and a strike rate of 124.06.

David Warner , Australian cricketer posits himself on number six, has scored 806 runs in 34 matches at an average of 25.18 and a strike rate of 133.22.

Jos Buttler , the English cricketer numbered seven has gathered 799 runs in 27 matches at an average of 42.05 and a strike rate of 144.48.

Shakib Al Hasan, Bangladeshi cricketer on number eight in the list has scored 742 runs in 36 matches at an average of 23.93 and a strike rate of 122.44.

AB de Villiers, the former South African international cricketer finds itself on number nine having scored 717 runs in 30 matches at an average of 29.87 and a strike rate of 143.40.

Kane Williamson, New Zealand captain is at number ten scoring 699 in 25 matches at an average of 33.28 and a strike rate of 113.84.
