Cricket is one of the most popular games in the valley of Kashmir. Known for their zest and talent, many Kashmiri players have made their mark on the domestic and international stage. Players like Parvez Rasool have represented India and showcased their talent on the world stage.
With growing infrastructure and newly introduced domestic leagues, more cricketers of the valley are expected to reach the game’s highest level.

1. Parvez Rasool
Parvez Rasool hails from the Bijbehara area of Anantnag district. He plays as an all-rounder for Jammu and Kashmir team and is one of the regular members of India A. In T20 cricket, Rasool has scored 813 runs from 56 innings in his T20 career with a strike rate of 107.25.
In 2013, he became the first player from Kashmir to play in the IPL, when he was purchased by Pune Warriors. He has also played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. Rasool also represented India when he was included in the Indian squad for the Zimbabwe tour in 2013. His first-ever T20 international came against England in 2017. He had a decent outing with the figures of 1/32 in 4 overs dismissing Eoin Morgan in the process.
2. Manzoor Dar
Manzoor Dar lives in the Bandipora district of Kashmir. He has scored 330 runs in 19 innings with an impressive strike rate of 146.66. He made his state debut in 2017 in the T20 state tournament.
In 2018, he was bought by the Kings XI Punjab and became the second player from Kashmir to play in the IPL. Dar was known for his six-hitting ability and has represented his state at various national-level tournaments such as Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy.
3. Qamran Iqbal
Qamran Iqbal was born on 17 October 2001 in Srinagar area of Kashmir. He has scored 315 runs in his T20 career in 12 innings. His T20 debut came in 2021 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Apart from his batting, Iqbal is widely known for his fielding skills and his dedication to the game has made him one to watch out for in the future.
Another of his traits is to change the flow of the game. He has the ability to hit big shots right from the get-go and his fast running between the wickets often keeps the opposition on their toes.
4. Abid Nabi
Abid Nabi was born on 26 December 1985 in Srinagar city. He was regarded as one of the fastest bowlers in India. Apart from his bowling, he was also handy with the bat and scored 278 runs in 24 innings in T20s. He represented Jammu and Kashmir in U-16, U-19 and senior level. He also played in the India Cricket League (ICL) for Delhi Giants.
Nabi was also picked up as a net bowler for the Indian National Cricket Team where VVS Laxman praised him for his bowling speed and hitting ability.
5. Adil Reshi
Adil Reshi hails from the Basant Bugh area of Srinagar city. He has scored 250 runs in 19 innings in his T20 career. A top-order batter and useful medium pacer, Reshi played for Jammu and Kashmir for six seasons where he enjoyed tremendous success.
He was an integral part of Jammu and Kashmir’s Ranji trophy season of 2013-14 where he was the highest run scorer for his state. Reshi is still active in his career and wants to return to the Jammu and Kashmir team for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
