Amid the ongoing standoff between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over the Champions Trophy 2025 which is scheduled from 19 February to 9 March, Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise owners have reached out to PCB to check the availability of foreign players for the 2025 edition of PSL, which is scheduled to clash with Indian Premier League (IPL).
“The owners want the PCB to give them clarity on which players would be available for the PSL if the IPL is also being held at the same time and also about broadcasting schedules, The owners are worried because of lack of clarity. The England and Wales Cricket Board and some other boards are talking about restrictions on their players playing in leagues so they want clarity ahead of the PSL players draft.” a source told PTI.
The 10th edition of PSL is likely to be scheduled in mid-late March after wrapping up the Champions Trophy 2025. It may clash with the first half of the IPL, with salaries and broadcaster rights in IPL amounts almost 48,390Cr most of the foreign players will prefer IPL over PSL if a clash occurs between the two leagues.
