What’s Next for Paul Pogba After Contract Termination with Juventus Looms

France’s World Cup winner and Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba is reportedly in discussions with the Serie A club over mutually terminating his contract. Although his current deal runs until June 2026, the 31-year-old is expected to agree with Juventus to end it early, as reports.

Pogba faces a ban after testing positive for DHEA, a prohibited substance that enhances natural testosterone levels, following Juventus’ 2023-24 season opener against Udinese on August 20. However, after a successful appeal, his ban was reduced from 4 years to 18 months.

Sources close to Pogba indicate that while his future plans are still in the preliminary stages, there is interest from clubs set to participate in next summer’s 32-team Club World Cup. Pogba will be eligible to train with and sign for a new club starting in January, and his availability during the summer tournament could be advantageous for a competing team, given that he would be more rested compared to other players coming off lengthy domestic and international campaigns.

Since rejoining Juventus after leaving Manchester United as a free agent in 2022, Pogba has managed just 12 appearances for the club. His most recent competitive outing came over a year ago when he came on as a second-half substitute in a 2-0 victory against Empoli.

Is MLS next for Paul Pogba?

Paul Pogba has no shortage of admirers and as the contract termination with Juventus looms, various clubs are keeping an eye on his situation. One potential destination for Pogba could be Inter Miami, the club where Lionel Messi currently plays. Notably, the former Manchester United star was spotted attending an Inter Miami match last month, fueling speculation.

Pogba’s presence in Major League Soccer would undoubtedly draw significant attention, mirroring Messi’s arrival, which has already transformed the league’s profile globally. It would also align with Inter Miami’s strategy of blending international star power with local talent, aiming to become a force in North American soccer.

Could Pogba be the latest name to join the Saudi Pro League?

The Saudi Pro League is another possible destination for the Juve man, having emerged as a prime choice for top-tier players seeking new challenges. Clubs like Al-Nassr, Al-Hilal, and Al-Ittihad have attracted big names such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and Neymar with lucrative offers, and considering Pogba’s reputation and fanbase, a switch to Saudi Arabia could provide both a great opportunity and a fresh start in a different environment.
